KAWARTHA HIGHLANDS HALIBURTON SCENIC DAY TOUR FRIDAY JULY 14, 2023
TOUR POSTPONED UNTIL
FRIDAY JULY 14th
10:00 am – 5:30 pm
This highly acclaimed tour ran for the first time last August is back by popular demand for the 2023! Starting in Peterborough, tour the Kawartha Highlands with a picnic stop overlooking Halliburton. A total of 5 hours of driving time along some of the area’s most scenic roads that the Miata seems to have been made for! Look forward to a late afternoon ice cream stop with the tour ending in Young’s Point.
Join Michelle and Steven for a variety of some great winding roads along some of the best back-roads Peterborough and Halliburton counties have to offer. With a full tank of gas ready for a great day of driving, a 10 AM sharp driver’s meeting will be held at the McDonald’s parking lot near the end of highway 115 (400 Lansdowne St E) in Peterborough. We will travel along a variety of our favorite roads making our way to Halliburton with a mid morning bio-break at Kawartha Winery for an opportunity to browse the fruit wines and jams before we make our way to our picnic stop in Halliburton at a scenic lookout. (pack your lunch and chairs, although a few picnic tables are available) After a social picnic lunch overlooking Halliburton, we will continue to travel some wonderful roads enjoying the scenery. We’ll have one afternoon stretch-break/bio-break, ending with an ice cream stop lock-side at Young’s Point. Expect a combination of leisurely and spirited segments of driving and short distances with gravel/loose gravel as it seems each season portions of these roads are resurfaced. Approximately 300 km with 5 hours of seat time, this scenic tour is a full day of driving.
Approximate times:
10:00 AM Driver’s meeting (10 minutes)
11:20 AM Bio-break at Kawartha Winery (30 minutes)
12:40 AM Picnic lunch (45 min)
3:30 PM Bio-break (20 minutes)
5:00 PM Ice Cream (30 minutes)
Michelle and Steven would appreciate volunteers to sweep and mid-sweep as they plan to run the tour as one group. CB radios are strongly encouraged as some unique sights and history will be shared along the way. Route may be shared via the Scenic app approximately a week prior to the tour.
