A total of thirty-one cars embarked on the 2024 Lake Placid Tour, a gathering enriched by the presence of our friends from the Vermont Miata Club. Embarking upon roads with numerous hills and twisties, nature graced us with an outstanding spring-like warmth and sunny days, interrupted only by sporadic raindrops witnessed by a select few on Saturday afternoon.
Following tradition, we departed daily into smaller groups, navigating the New York and Vermont roads for three days straight. The once modest Friday Early Bird Tour has blossomed into an integral part of our journey, embraced by nearly all participants. Our delicious lunches were at Charlies Inn on Friday, Fire and Ice in Vermont on Saturday, and Frontier Town on Sunday. Dinners found us enjoying a numerous choice of restaurants within walking distance to downtown Lake Placid.
Our gracious hosts at the Lake House greeted us with welcoming champagne and the comfort of steaming coffee urns each morning before our departure. The grandeur of the Lake House’s great room provided the perfect backdrop for our nightly reunions, where laughter intertwined with tales of our weekend adventures. This year The Lake House set up a car wash station again, which seems to have grown with numerous supplies.
Gary Svoboda, the Tour Organizer and President of the Trillium Club, extends his heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the club’s largest overnight tour of the season. Special appreciation is reserved for the Leads and Sweeps, whose unwavering support ensured the seamless orchestration of this magnificent tour.
