Lake Placid, New York, the perfect weekend. Can’t wait to go back. It was the perfect weekend. Dozens of shops and restaurants within walking distance — seconds from the hotel. Gorgeous reflections on Mirror Lake. 46 lake-view rooms all to ourselves. We stayed at The Lake House, every door posted a sign saying closed for our private/special event. The parking lot was similarly barricaded for us. Amazing roads. Splendid meals. Perfect company. We may already be sold out for next year! Ask around; you won’t find any complaints.
